First they cried about sound pollution during #Diwali. Then they whined about how ‘incidences of sexual abuse of children’ could be on the rise during Diwali.
Diwali is over, but the #FestivalShaming continues.
Now they have come up with a new stick to beat the Hindus with – something called ‘light pollution’. According to an article published in the ET, apparently, the fairy lights put up during Diwali result in a ‘prolonged exposure to light at night that can affect the growth of trees and the natural cycles of birds and other creatures.’
Mind you, it is only the lighting done during Diwali that upsets the growth of the poor birds. Glass front office buildings that are lit night and day don’t. Malls lit up for New Year Festivities don’t. Huge halogen street lights don’t. Flood lit stadia during IPL don’t have an impact on sparrows and other birds, but it is only during Diwali that their ‘natural cycles’ are disturbed!
What next? Eating Mithai causes Food Pollution? Decorating your doorway with Marigolds causes ‘flower pollution’? Rangoli outside your doorstep causes ‘floor pollution?’ as one of my readers suggested? Wishing your friends for Diwali causes ‘word pollution’?
Well, you miserable religious Hindus, just stop breathing and drop dead, will ya? That way, you will stop ALL pollution, and the world can finally live happily ever after!!
