Simply Amazing : Here is how PM Modi Welcomed Vladimir Putin with a surprise

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Saturday to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin who will be meeting Modi in Goa later in the day for bilateral talks. The two countries are expected to sign important deals during the meeting covering areas of defence and nuclear energy on the sidelines of the 8th BRICS Summit. “India welcomes you, President Putin! Wishing you a fruitful India visit. @KremlinRussia_E” tweeted PM Modi. News agency ANI reported that Putin’s flight had been delayed due to fog cover.

The defence deals include procurement of four stealth frigates and five units of the S-400 anti-aircraft system from Russia along with an announcement of a joint venture for the manufacture of 200 Kamov-226T helicopters in India. According to reports, India is also expected to sign an inter-government agreement for the supply of S-400 LRSAM anti-aircraft systems, which is capable of destroying missiles, drones and incoming fighter jets within a range of 400 km. News agency IANS reported that the two leaders will also participate in foundation-laying ceremony of the third and fourth power units at the Kundakulam nuclear power plant via video conference.

The deals also come in the backdrop of the first-ever joint military exercises between Russia and Pakistan. India had earlier expressed its concern on the Russia-Pakistan military cooperation. Pankaj Saran, the Indian envoy to Moscow, said, “We have conveyed our concerns and views. We are confident that Russia will reflect on our concern. That is where we stand.”
